Hamstring tears are a very common sporting injury, however it is a common misconception that once the pain has gone, it is safe to return to sport. When a muscle is torn, the body repairs the tear with scar tissue, which is immature and weak.
It is important to note that rehabilitation exercises after a muscle tear are critical to full recovery, otherwise that weakness in the hamstring will remain providing increased risk of re-tearing that muscle again (often worse than the original injury!).
