Just follow the directions of Julian and you should be fine.

Rest and icing are particular important in the first few weeks.

    Hope your surgery went well.

Thanks for responding mate, I have been trying to perform my excercises (as set out on the sheet provided by mr feller) however I have also been told to only push it as far as is comfortable, basiclly im not exactly sure how hard to push it? where do i draw the line i can nearly get full extension after three days but cannot bend it more than say 2-3 inches, is this standard, do i just push through it, thanks for ur help as i have no one who really knows and mr feller is away until monday, cheers mate..

Everyone is different. Only push as far as it is comfortable. You don't want to end up in excessive pain.

If you are experiencing problems I suggest ringing his rooms. They could possibly ask another surgeon.

    kjwilkin,
thanks for you response mate. I do think initially I was a little 'melodramatic' due mainly to my fear of messing it up and the fact id never had any suregry before whatsoever. It is now 6 days post op and my only real 'concern' is the pain that is in my 'patella tendon region' now I had a hamstring tendon graft so Im just trying to find out what it could be. I have done a google search and found some similar things but they seem to be from ppl who are doing squats etc i have only done the two excercises that Mr Feller recommends for the first two weeks. It hurts like buggery in the morning when I wake and its really the only pain that I still have associated with the knee. I have cut right down on the pain meds now only taking two doses a day one when i wake and one at night to help get to sleep, now I understand that this is prob just a result of the procedure but for fear of the possibilities, would appreciate a list of what it could be. Thanks again for your help mate, I do appreciate it.

Try not to worry too much. It is probably related to your surgery.

Have you had your first post-op appointment with Julian yet ?

Best not to look too much on the Internet as it will probably cause you to worry more.

1st post op appointment isnt until 9th sept - 4 weeks post op, in the guideline booklet he gives u it says if u cant get full extension by three weeks than you need to go back for another surgery! yet my appointment isnt until 4 weeks after!?!? have had a couple lil scraes - knee has given out on my a couple times, but nothing too serious (im assuming it gave out due to atrophy of the quad) have almost full extension however when i get almost there it feels like there is something blocking it - in where my patella tendon is, even though he used hamstring tendon..ive been walking without crutches for about 4 days now and im three days short of 3 weeks so i think thats good i dunno

thanks kj, met with mr feller today and he seems to be quite happy with my progress, ive been riding bike all this week and doing wall squats hamstring curls light leg press etc, it seems to be imporving a hell of alot each and every day. he said i should be able to start running in another 6 weeks..so pumped for that..all in all despite a few scares, keep faith and itll work out
