Huge, huge GOOD LUCK to Janet and HC!! (will wish this nearer the time too, and be thinking about you both and looking for updates, but wanted to say it now incase things get a bit mad with Christmas). I so hope these are the final surgeries you both need for a while, and everything goes smoothly.
Big hugs and Happy Christmas, heres to a painfree 2012 for EVERYONE!! xxx
Yay, I can say it's finally the pain is easing off, after that slip on Saturday. The blood thinners have stopped and as soon as they did, surprise surprise the old dvt pains have returned :-( but now put my compression stockings on for peace of mind. Started with my physio at home again now i don't feel as sore, and thankfully it doesn't seem to of put my back too much. Although just above my knee i would say i can feel a weird sort of pain, not sure if its muscle feeling returning, or damage?
Had my staples out on Monday and scar is looking neat and didn't bleed too much thankfully. Nose has bled everyday since surgery and now i'm on too which is immensely heavy. Be glad when it's over.
I still don't fit any of my normal trousers, as my leg is still so swollen, so it's sweatpants all the way for me (the doc's don't warn you of these things) and my boots don't fit either, so wearing my Sketcher Uggs everywhere whether they good shite or not!
I have no idea how to do the Christmas present wrapping as i ca't lend over my scar/hip on the right hand side at all, and i definitely couldn't ever get on the floor. Just about mastered my bathboard with Hubby's help this week.
Countdown for my pals, Good Luck for the both of you and Happy Winter Solstice, and Happy Christmas to you all in case i don't get online again xx

Thanks girls!
HC, I'm having a THR on my left hip. It's a bit of a shame, as I only had the open FAI surgery 3 years ago, and the PAO 2 years ago on that hip. But I've never gotten rid of the groin pain and the OA is bone-on-bone now, so a THR is a great solution.
I'd love to think that the THR will be my last surgery for a while, but my right hip is feeling more and more like my left hip. Of course, I'll see if it settles down once I'm walking properly, but I know how quickly these hips can deteriorate, and if it doesn't improve soon, I'll ask for it to be looked at. I did sneak a look when I had the X-ray last week, and I thought I could see signs of OA, so I'll ask about that.
I'm all set for surgery now. I've had quite a lot of trouble with having the special non-allergenic dressings ready (the usual ones burn my skin now). The hospital couldn't get them from their supplier in time, so in the end, my GP has written a prescription and I've ordered them from the local pharmacy.
Have a lovely Christmas everyone, and here's to 2012!!
Huge good luck Janet, I will be thinking about you tomorrow!! Hope everything goes really well , the pain is well controlled and you recover quickly.
look forward to reading your updates, when you are up to it.

Thanks girls! I'm so excited - I can't wait to see what my new hip will feel like! Sam still can't believe that the groin pain has gone for good, and says that it is just amazing.
Not long for you now either HC - hope you have everything ready.

Janet, thinking about you so much over the last few days. I hope everything is going well, you are not in too much pain and make it home soon. Big hugs xxx
HC, Masses of good luck to you for next week. You know you will be in my thoughts, you have an excellent OS and are in great hands, so hopefully this will finally fix things for you. I hope everything goes really really well, the pain isn't too bad and you get home soon. Update us either on here, or on FB and let me know how you are doing when you are up to it. Big hugs to you too xxx
Sarasbadhip, Hi and welcome to the group. Surgery for a labral tear isnt too bad, (persuming its an Arthroscopy?) Allsurgeons seem to have their own protocol as far as recovery goes and can vary tremendously-my first I was on crutches for 6 weeks, the second 1 day(different surgeons)!!It depends if there is any underlying factors to be addressed or additional procedures done during the surgery too, but hopefully it will be straightforward for you and you will be off crutches and doing PT as soon as poss. I didnt need any extra equipment with either of my Arthroscopies but if you do need anything your OS should havbe advised you of that. Good luck with your surgery, hope it goes well.
Debbie, hope you're healing well hunni xx
