Default Never heard of my diagnosis!

I hurt my arm up pretty bad, and the shoulder pain never went away! I had an MRI, and the radiologist doctor said that I had a labral tear. I took the MRI to the orthopaedist and he said it was not a tear, and all I have is "painful arm syndrome". I cannot find any literature on this "condition" and he said just go home and take some anti-inflammatories. Have you ever heard of this, or what it is all about?
    Thanks,
    Bob

"painful arm syndrome" is not a medical diagnosis. You may find literature on "complex regional pain syndrome" but I would be inclined to seek a further opinion from a sports physician or orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in shoulder problems.

I agree that it is a major cop-out to dismiss a labral tear on an MRI scan if you are in pain. It may not be 100% likely that this is causing your pain, but it is 100% more likely than any fictitious "painful arm syndrome".

This isnt a workers comp case is it?

This doctor sounds very much like one a freind saw when she was on W/C.
Was diagnosed as having "regional pain syndrome".

Dont cop that. As said above its a total cop out.

Get a second opinion. My advice if its workers comp injury, Dont tell the doctor. You get substandard service cause they dont wanna the headache of a workers comp case.

Of course, luckily, there are some they treat you with respect regardless. Dr Jerome Goldberg comes to mind as one thats good.

If I was you I'd get another opinion.

In Melbourne John Salmon is a really good shoulder surgeon. I'm currently seeing him for shoulder instability and due to undergo surgery at the beginning of September.

Also, it might be worth going to see a sports physician. They would be able to refer you to a good shoulder physio if that's what's required. My sports physician referred me to a really good shoulder physio and has made a huge difference. Also been doing pilates to strengthen up my shoulder which has helped a lot too.
