    Unhappy Unsuccessful Hip Arthroscopy

I wanted to know how many of you guys out there who have been diagnosed with an acetabular tear(s) and have gone thru hip arthroscopy and are still or once again suffering from catching or other symptoms?

I have read the main thread about acetabular tears and haven't seen people post anything about having problems after the hip scopes.

I'm trying to stay positive and keeping a log online but deep down honestly losing hope. Any information of you guys out there would be great.

    Hi
I had Hip Arthroscopy surgery almost a year ago now, and am still in a lot more pain and dis-comfort than before the opp. I returned to my surgeon at the six month mark who said "It was normal to take this long as the damage in my hip was quite extensive". I have tried to stay positive, but I am now reaching almost a year post opp and starting to become doubtful of any inprovement. Would love to hear more about your situation.

This is a very old Thread, I know a few of the girls on here have had this surgery and like you weren't any better off and followed down a Ost surgery further down the line.

Perhaps start a new thread and they will find you better, I know it's frustrating and lonely, pls don't lose faith. I'm 2.5yrs post Left Pelvis Ost and Femur Ost, and 6Mths post Right Femur Ost so i understand the pain and stress your under xx

Default I think my scope failed too!!!

    Hi
I had surgery in Dec 08 for FAI ( Cam ) and labral debridement.
I had to travel overseas for the surgery, so have never had post op checks or support from people who know the injury.
I saw the OS 4 days after surgery ,on my way home and was told he had to do alot of work but he seemed really postive for my future.
9 days after, I ended up in hospital in uncontrolable pain, I stayed there for about 5 days untill they stabalised it and things havent improved that much from there.
My main symptoms have pretty much remained the same from the time I was injured,
About a year after surgery with little improvement I accepted the surgey had possibly failed and have tried to get help, which is proving near impossible.
In Jan this year things changed . Intense pain appeared in my left hip. ( I have never had pain here before)
My GP thought bursitis so gave it a shot, It helped a little but then the pain quickly intensified back to its original level and worse.
My right hip about this time ,began graunching and popping on external rotation,( this hip never made nosies like this even before surgery ) the pain has become much worse on this side as well.
My right hip was injected in five spots a couple of months ago, this gave some relief but it has flared up into a real problem for me.
When I lie on either side , the pain is really sharp from my outside hips through both groins, down the front deep through into the back and sides of legs, down outer side and deep in butt, plus the ever present deep low back pain.
Once I get up ,and walk around it eases off to a dull sharp ache in groin ,butt ,thighs and back.
Lying down and sitting causes the most pain.
I have just seen a hip specialist who had an xray of both my hips done . He has written to tell me my hips are shallow but still within normal range and my xray is fine.
    Has suggested the pain clinic.
Does an xray show all damage
I dont know what to do or who can help, so yes I too think I am a failed scope.
