This is by no means meant to be an exhaustive list, but a guide to some of the specialists who see exclusively or mainly shoulder problems in Sydney. In Sydney the level of sub-specialisation is greater than other states because of the greater population, but I would encourage anyone from other cities to post a guide to the names in their town. I don't expect a ranking system, just a helpful guide as to who is working in the area:
Surgeons:
Des Bokor + David Duckworth, 116 Macquarie St Parramatta, 98938788
David Sonnabend, 6 McIntosh St Chatswood, 94195244
Mark Perko + Greg Burrow, 286 Pacific Hwy Crows Nest, 94375999
Danny Biggs, 111 Anzac Pde Kensington, 96635999
George Murrell, St George Private Hospital, 95537700
Stephen Quain, St. Vincent?s Clinic, 83826916
Jerome Goldberg, 160 Belmore Rd Randwick, 93995333
There are other practitioners who specialise in the shoulder in Sydney, such as sports physicians Seamus Dalton and John Best and physiotherapist Joel Werman.
If anyone knows of others who are experts in shoulder injuries in Sydney, please add to the list (or start another thread if you know of others in a different state).

Hi, I'd appreciate it if you added my name to the list of specialists:

Neither of these have searches by areas of expertise, but both of them list areas of interest next to the practitioner.

just wondering i require open surgery to repair a bankart labaret lesion ...after being advised to get it over an arthroscopic so that i can return to rugby..wondering if anyone has advice over which specialist to pick which is my ultimate dilemma..having been referred to each..
Dr. Jerome Goldberg
Dr. Des Bokor
toss a coin, they are both gurus
If you want to be the man, you've got to beat the man
I'd marginally recommend DB but agree with hhh that they are both top shelf.

hey just an update...went n saw DB and he found nerve damage in the right deltoid as a result of the dislocation in the shoulder n has re-scheduled for another pre-op appointment in 6weeks..it sucks cause i was psychologically ready for the operation on the 16tth august..am i right to take his advice or op to get surgery straight away n run the risk of the nerve never actually heelin...what about the thoughts on Dr. Sonnabend?
If axillary nerve is damaged there is a good chance it may never fully recover. Either way, what was possibly a 6 month recovery is now looking like 9-12. The good news is that even with axillary nerve problems, it is possible to return to contact sport. Jason Ryles and Adrian Morley both have permanently weak deltoids but are back playing rep footy.
