I have unfortunately had to delete a couple of posts which contained comments about a surgeon that were bordering on unfair comment. It is great for people on a site like this to give comments about surgeons and discuss the results of their own surgeries and rehab. Remember however that if there are comments made that present ANY risk of defamation then they will need to be taken down when they are first drawn to our attention.
Examples of ACCEPTABLE comments:
I had surgery with doctor X and didn't get the result I was hoping for.
I wouldn't recommend doctor X for the problem I had.
Examples of UNACCEPTABLE comments:
Doctor X shouldn't be used as he is a rude man and unprofessional
Doctor X misdiagnosed my problem as abc when it really was def etc.
It is understandable that not everyone gets good results and a public forum seems like a good way to vent your spleen if you are unhappy, but remember that standards for defamation of an individual are VERY different to those of a company. What you are allowed to say in public about Telstra, McDonald's and BHP are very different to what you are allowed to say about individual doctors, for example.
If possible defamatory comments are brought to out attention, we will remove them ASAP, but if it becomes such a regular occurence that we can't keep up with the need, then unfortunately the Forum would need to be shut down.
