Byron Pickett has been suspended by Melbourne after admitting going out drinking the night before the Bulldogs game, to which he failed to attend despite being named as an emergency.

The club has told Pickett to spend the next week away from the club to consider his future. If he comes back and tells them he wants to continue his career at the club, he will have to spend a minimum of 4 weeks playing for Sandringham before the match committee will consider him for senior selection.
