    Cool Knee injury questions

Hello to all on the forum. I am so happy that I found you all there is a lot of great info on this site.

    Here is my story:

I was at work(I am a nurse) assisting with a proceedure and I passed out. when I woke i was in sort of a scissor split and sort of sitting onstiitng on my left knee, with my left foot and lower leg out to the side.( Yes the left leg was the handle part of the scissor ) Anyway I woke I had minnimal pain to the left leg but everyone in the room said wow you should get that leg looked at.( I am unsure if they herad any sound from me falling on the leg).
When I stood up I was unable to bear full weight and began to have pain the leg was swollen...

FAst forward to the ortho appt They said I had wasting of the muscles over my knee and that because of the amount of pain that i was having I problably had blood in the knee. The aspirated 20cc of blood. The gave me a brace and set me up for an mri which will not be done for another week.

FAst forward to today I dont have the same pain but still cannot fully straighten the leg. have some crunching in the knee and when I walk my knee feels unstable. I also have pain in the back of my kneecap.

    What have I done?????

Please forgive the long post but any help will help.

    Hi there,

It sounds like you may have a problem with your patella.

I would suggest you go to see a good sports physician. They will be able to recommend the best form of treatment and whether you need any scans or x-rays. For patella problems the best form of scan is actually a plain x-ray. I've had patella instability for over 12 years so know how frustrating it can be. Whereabouts are you based ?

If you are referred to a physio or surgeon make sure they specialise in knee problems. It makes the world of difference.

    Good luck !
