    Default Synovial pit

    Hi
-dont worry about the synovial pit. It would have been a finding on your MRI scan. Its not a pathological entity really, but a 'normal variant'. A bit like a small blemish/ hole on the surface of the hip joint cartilage. Its often commented on when we radiologists report MR scans of joints but is of no real clinical significance.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi Radman1
Could you tell me whether a subchondral bone cyst causes pain or whether the pain actually comes from the fact that the joint is dysplastic? I can't find any info as to what is actually causing my pain, and don't seem to get a straight answer from my surgeon.
    Thanks
    Kate

FAO Surferchick i totally agree on a UK support group. As we've all had trouble finding information, and it's great to actually have people's experiences to read about. And to find young people going through it too is a dream come true for me as i felt totally alone at first. (until i found this forum actually)

    Hi, folks,

Update: I've had open hip surgery to repair FAI. Surgery appears to have gone well and there is reason to be positive about the outcome. I am two weeks post op now and, of course, am on crutches. I was absolutely delighted with my treatment. The surgeon was very attentive and keen to answer all of my questions and visited me regularly when in hospital. The staff at the hospital were also second to none! I'll keep you posted on my progress. Stay positive, all! And happy 2008!

Dear Surferchick (if you're still out there)
How are you going these days? How's the hip? And the shoulder?
I'm now 9+ months post-op and re-trying physio. I think I may have found the right physio this time. She wants to treat my hip first, then we'll move on to the shoulder (I was finally diagnosed with frozen shoulder. Seems so unfair, to have this FAI thing and just when I felt was getting out of the woods, my shoulder started to hurt like hell).
Anyways..........drop a post if you can. Would love to hear how you're trackin.

'hi I am also from the uk and am 5 days post op from a labrum tear repair plus pincer inpingment resection am also keen to see a uk forum set up. I was lucky cos a) I have medical knowledge, a good GP and physio and consequently found an excellent surgeon...oh and have private med insurance, which is just about to run out!! but finding out details, getting people to understand is very difficult. My son seems to view my op as a simple thing.
