Can anyone help me? I am a very active 37 year old female. 2 years ago I dislocated and broke my hip playing women's tackle football. I had surgery to repair the acetabulum. 2 plates and something like 8 screws were used. I recovered better than expected and after a year of training was actually able to return to football. This was, of course, with my doctors ok. I began having pain from my buttok down to the back of my knee after sitting, especially driving. I was told scar tissue was pushing on the nerve and I had to live with it. I sought out alternitive means of treating the pain. I found great relief in acupuncture and laser light therapy. It got to a point where I really didn't have much pain for at least a year. Now, I once again am suffering from the pain down the back of my leg. I am also begining to have pain in my groin area. Funny thing is the pain practically disappears if I am moving. I can go for a bike ride or walk and it will not hurt, I can even run. Not long after I sit back down, the pain returns. Please, any suggestions, I am very frustrated.
Thank you

I don't actually have any advice for you sorry, but i do know what your experiencing. I had z-lasty on my tight IT band but since then, my buttocks feel numb but painful right down the back of my leg and recently some groin pain when i walk. I hope mind will settle down as i'm only 2 weeks poat op but who knows?? I hope you get things sorted soon, and i wouldn't take it lying down off my doctor!! Live with it!! HA they should try it! xx
Where is your hardware situated? I don't know where they place them so this might be a dead end. But has anyone thought about the fact that maybe screw heads or something could be causing irritation to the nerves somewhere and when you are sitting you are putting more pressure in that area?
I had the open surgery for FAI and had my 2 screws removed 2 months ago because they were causing pain down the side of my leg. Since then that pain has gone so it was the screws being nasty. Anyway just wondered if it had been suggested at all.
All the best and I hope you find an answer.
