mlfoster, Dr. Bradley in Pittsburgh did my surgery. I sure hope your son's MRI is negative for this injury. Good luck.
Thanks drq. We'll know in a few days. I will have an abudance of knowledge to help him with if it's positive!
Wow, Michelle that'd be awful if it turns out to be that! Does he have tight hamstrings like you said you have? Good luck with that whole situation for sure!
Had my first PT session today, almost two hours and so incredibly informative. Great therapists that explained everything to me so well. One huge bummer though is I can't run anymore, not for a while anyway. I guess I need to stretch the tendons and muscles back into shape before I ask that much of them. I will try hard to comply but it's going to be so hard! They also massaged the scar and used heat and something with medicine that gets sent right into your surgery spot with tiny electrical shocks. All in all I feel upbeat about....drum roll please..The Bike!! That was my biggest worry but I was surprised I could sit on it! Now I know how you guys do itGlad to hear all of the recent updates, we're all pretty tough!
Does anyone just mainly have pain at the attachment site? Don't get me wrong the muscle is tender and sore but nothing like the pain I'm getting from the attachment site. Been in P.T. for a little over two weeks and it just seems to be hurting worse. It feels like someone is stabbing me constantly there. I can't believe it is from P.T. because I really don't feel like I do much there. So far it's only light stretching and massage, no bike, nothing and the session only lasts 30 mins. I'm eleven weeks out from the original surgery. Just curious if anyone else has had this problem. Thanks for any input. Happy healing!
Blalbo, that is where 90 % of my pain is still. and they seemed surprised that it still hurts. I'm almost 8 weeks out. They noticed I sit with weight on my good cheek. Have you had heat and that electrical medicine patch I mentioned? I don't think it's odd you still have pain there at all, seems most of us do. I was told by an EMT that anytime you put screws into bone it is much more painful and a Lot slower to heal than a broken bone. I was also told today that there is a bursa(sp) there and that can be inflamed and cause a lot of pain also, I was told that's one of my problems. I wonder if you have that too? you might ask about that. Hang in there.
FANTASTIC sunluver...you're on your way. Sounds like you're in good hands with your PT. Just go slower and you'll run again!
I had a big problem with stabbing pain at about the same time. It was scar tissue releasing....It's horrible right? It feels like something terrible has happened. Use plenty of ice after PT...
Don't forget that they count on scar tissue to help with the attachment. I think we should keep our sights on the long term goals. All the protocols have said the it takes 6-9 months to return to presurgical activity.....
I still feel like I have a Pitt Bull hanging on my butt! Tricia, so what was on your T-shirt? Michelle, keep us posted on his injury. I wouldn't wish this on my WORST enemy......Goodnight all.
Blalbo, im 10 weeks out now and i still have tingling and im always aware of my surgical site when sitting. Today i actually did a major grocery shop- a big first!! my husband never never did really did get the hang of it!
Katie, im still sissy about taking a tub bath. That would be the worst place to slip. Tricia is braver than me---and younger!
Michelle, i cant believe your son's accident. i hope it isnt totally avulsed. i never heard the pop on my avulsion. keep us posted.
