    Default basketball odd ankle injury

I was playing basketball, jumped up, came down, and I rolled my ankle and heard a lound pop, I can actually walk on it easy and roll it around in the air but when I try to move it from side to side it locks up and is excruciating pain and won't go. And it looks just a little bit swollen. Is this an ankle sprain? From what I've read on the internet it matches exactly what has happened to me

    "Causes of Ankle Sprains

The most common cause of an ankle sprain is applying weight to the foot when it is in an inverted or everted position. Commonly, this happens while running or jumping on an uneven surface. The foot rolls in (inversion) or out (eversion) and the ligaments are stretched. Occasionally a loud "snap" or "pop" is heard at the time of sprain. This is usually followed by pain and swelling of the ankle."

    any help?

Which side is it on? The outside (lateral side) is where the classic ankle sprain occurs.

In basketball i did the same thing at practice i went up and landed on it and i heard a loud pop and i felt pain only in certain movements like you but my trainer told me i was fine and prob a slight sprain ice and elevate and you'll be good if pain worsens or painfully to walk go to a orthopedic specialist
