    Thanks everybody,

Had a pretty rough night painwise, so coming off the pump today onto stronger oral meds. Think things might be a bitt more sore once I am moving around more, but at least I know it is recovery pain, and will get easier each day, so must focus on that.

I am so glad I can get onto this site its great to keep in touch with you all. I keep thinking how Rayray is doing, so hope things are going well for her.

Thats me done for, for now,
    take care all,
    Kate xxxxx

Kate, you are doing brilliantly well, so don't get too disheartened if you have a lot more pain now your moving and have to slow things down for a day or two. I wasn't even allowed up til day 2 post op, then could only stand for a second before passing out, so didnt even walk til day 3, and never got onto crutches before I was discharged at day 6!! so you are leaps and bounds ahead.

keep taking those painkillers and REST! xxx

    Thanks Sam,

I think I am going to murder someone if i dont get out of here soon. Mr Witt and the physios are fantastic as are some of the nurses but not many.
I am on a ward that has ortho and urology mixed (god knows why) and ortho just seem to get ignored. I have just had to get in and out of bed with no help at all so she could change the sheets-think they think i have had a replacement and dont realise i cant move my leg!
am having a real weepy day think its the drugs but really just want to get home.
    thanks for the vent,

Ahhhhh Kate - hang on in there. You're doing incredibly well and we're all really proud of you. I cannot believe that you had to get in and out of bed on your own - that's appalling. I think every single one of us understands how you feel in wanting to get out of hospital as quickly as possible (although your experience does sound particularly awful). I think you start to recover much better at home, when you're in your own bed, and can have your meals when you want etc. Hopefully, not too long to go, and you'll be on your way home. You've just got to stay in until you're definetley well enough, and your pain is under control.

Vent on here as much as you like - that's what we're here for.
Stay strong, and don't about having the weepies - all part of the recovery!
Love and hugs and hope you're not in too much pain now

I echo what Janet says, and maybe you need to politely inform the nurses that you are NOT allowed to do any active movement, including getting yourself out of bed, or failing that get the physios to remind the nurses as they may be more accepting of that. I've had bad experiences with nurses in exeter hospital and it was horrible, so I know how you feel! hope things improve,
    keep going xx

    Thanks all,

feeling loads better now, stopped feeling sorry for myself, think i was just tired.

I am really pleased with how far I have got, swapped the walker for crutches today, although I was super slow, but its progress. Also have come off the IV onto oral meds which is helping the pain better, so its all good

Aiming to get home monday so that will be good.

    Take care all,
    Kate xx

Oh sweetie, i'm sorry that they don't seem to be understanding you, or being considerate. So i'd do what the girls above say huni. You'll be home soon and kids running you ragged, so try to rest as much as possible. Love you snots and toads x0x0x0x0x0x

    3 days post op now,

All tubes, IVs and catheters out so can move around freely with crutches.
Went to hydro this morning, had an hour in the pool with the physio which was really good, will be doing it again on monday. Also planning to try stairs on monday and hopefully go home tuesday.
Pain not too bad, more unconfortable than really painful, just feels really wierd with lots of cracking in the joint when I move.

So glad things are going so well, and i've my fingers crossed for your Tuesday home date. I'd love to know how your sending your hours there?? Are you on the go with physio so much, then when it's over you just sleep? Or do you find you have a fair few hours to do reading or watching the tv?? I wish i knew how Rayray was getting on, hopefully she will be home by Tuesday too.

Got my letter of appointment and it's for 15th June, so i'm a bit gutted it's so long away. That will make me on week 13 of the 18 week clock, so i doubt i'd get the surgery then 5 weeks later?! So may just book my holiday and work round it, as the kids need some time off, away from boring routine as do we all. On the brightside i got an appointment though, so shouldn't complain xx
