Default thumb bended back still hurts after 3 weeks

I'm 15 and I bended my right thumb back when I didn't catch a volleyball properly 3 weeks ago. I've placed ice on it when I got home from school but it still hurts. I can only squeeze half my thumb to my palm. Is there anyone I can make it heal better without seeing a doctor? What can I do?

Why don't you want to see a doctor? If it hasn't been X-ray'd then you might have a fracture.

You could see a physio and have it treated, and the physio will march you quickly off to an X-ray machine (or doctor) if it looks suspicious.

That is why, incidentally, that physios are much more reliable than chiros and osteos etc. Alternative medical practitioners are alternative for a reason - some of them are great and compliment the medical profession, whereas others are cowboys that don't let patients get off to traditional medical treatment when they need it.

Yes, there are definitely good and bad doctors and if you have seen some bad ones in the past, look around. There are also expensive and (in Australia) cheap doctors as well, ditto.

i just got an x-ray done on the thumb. i'll kow the prognosis by tomorrow. i only went to see a normal GP because my mum said the physio cost too much. but if the prognosis is bad than i'll probablt have to go and see one. i think it might be fractured because its been about 3-4 weeks now and it still feels the same. (the bone still sticks out of the skin abit)
