    Talking O'Hara

I saw O'Hara today and finally have my plan of action, I wrote it in other posts but somehow have disappeared somewhere?? I'm booked in for a TRIPLE PELVIC AND VALGILS OSTETOMY on the left and hopefully no surgery on the right hip! He's hoping it's all due to the left and the leg length difference which will be corrected after surgery. Oh i'm over the Moon, he says i'll have 8 weeks notice for date xx

Yay Debbie!!!!!!!! thats so fantastic! You can now join the PAO club!! hehehe! Does that mean you will be having your surgery in 8 weeks or you will be told 8 weeks before of the date? So pleased for you. What did he say about your pain relief until the op? How are you getting on with the split dosing?

Spam He didn't really ask about my pain relief, maybe i should of asked him?? But the new pattern has started to work well, i'm just really tired from the 1.30am dose and 7.30am dose but i'm getting used to it now thankfully. Yeah i get to join the club of PAO's too. Has anyone had the valgils oste??
Rayray thanks for the jumping up and down, thats how i felt (i didn't did it too but sense kicked it)
Dee thanks for your finger and toes crossing, all the wishing helped me so i'm grateful to you all. I think the right may behave once i have the new leg length! How exciting.

Think he just said he'll call and write 8 weeks before the surgery date, ut i'm going to ring the hospital and found out the rough waiting time so i can prepare better for it, ie, take kiddies on day trips out while i can, train family to do household chores etc....
    Oh i'm flying high xx

YAY!!! Thats great news Debbie!! I am so pleased you waited and saw O'Hara, and its fantastic that you only need the one surgery! Yipee!!
I had the Valgus Osteotomy but as a child, not together with the PAO. I have read from others who have had it that the recovery isn't too much different to the PAO on its own, did O'Hara give you any indication of the recovery process?
    So happy for you,
    Kate xxx

Yeah he pretty much said the recovery would be similar to PAO's as in 6 weeks no weight bearing, have x-rays to see if i can weight bear after for another 6-12 weeks then down to one crutch or walking stick, so it's sounds like yours doesn't it?? The hospital says i should be having it done in December, which does spoil some birthdays and me doing the Christmas shopping but it's tough! I'm coming first on this, who cares if it's selfish, i'll have to make sure i start the Christmas shopping now so i'm prepared. Oh i'm so excited but scared witless too! xx

    Hello

Haven't been on the forum for a while but thought I'd chip in to this one - I'm under the care of Mr O'Hara too, had a left TPO in Dec '07 and having a right TPO this month. It is a crazy surgery to try and get your head around and is slightly different to the PAO, in terms of the bone cuts and two incisions etc, but the recoveries sound very similar. Glad you've got a plan of action - always a relief!

    Take care,
    Jodie

Yay Debbie - we can compare notes, I should be having my PAO/Open debridement combo in december too! I was actually just about to type on here to get started on your christmas shopping ready incase it was a few months to wait! (its actually only about 16 weeks til early dec!!). That recovery plan sounds about right, they all say 18 months til full recovery and strength.

    Sam xx
