Hi,

I broke my right wrist 2 months ago while snowboarding. I completely broke my radius bone and had a small chip on my ulna. The doctor in the medical centre up there gave me a local anaesthetic and manipulated my radius back into place and plastered it up.
Back in Melbourne, i went to see a sports doctor after 3 weeks and he was really pleased with the positioning of the bone in the xray, but recommended i keep the plaster on for 8 weeks, rather than the standard 6.
So after another 5 weeks i went back to have my plaster removed and a final x-ray.
The doctor wanted to show my xrays to a colleague of his and they decided to recommend me to see a wrist specialist as the bone has moved into a worse position from my 3 week to my 8 week xray.
Depending on how much movement the surgeon thinks i will recover, i may need to have surgery to re-break the bone and move it into a better position.
I've been referred to a surgeon by the doctor, but i'd also like to get a second opinion from another hand/wrist specialist.
If anybody has a surgeon in Melbourne that they would recommend to see, that would be great. There doesn't seem to be much info on the net about specialty surgeons....
