Ankle Cartilage Injury
The cartilage lining of the ankle joint can sometimes be injured during a severe ankle sprain. The most commonly injured part of the ankle is called the 'talar dome'. If left undetected, it can lead to ongoing ankle pain. In severe cases, an ankle arthroscopy may be required to treat a talar dome lesion and other types of ankle cartilage injuries.A stabilising ankle brace or walker boot may be used after the initial injury to provide pain relief.
