Midfoot sprains

The LisFranc injury refers to a sprain or tear to the ligament complex which connects the inside part of the midfoot to the base of the 2nd toe. Injury to this ligament complex can cause pain and ongoing instability to the midfoot.

These sprains can sometimes cause players to miss almost a full season of football. Matthew Richardson of the Richmond Tigers, and Mark Gasnier of the St. George-Illawarra Dragons have both suffered these injuries.
