Sacroiliac Joint Problems

The sacroiliac joint (SIJ) is a deep joint in the buttock between the tail bone (sacrum) and the pelvic wing bone (ilium). It may be injured during a previous motor vehicle accident, severe sporting injury or childbirth. It is thought that some lower back pain is due to SIJ disease. The SIJ can also be a source of pain in inflammatory medical conditions such as ankylosing spondylitis.

A lower back brace may sometimes be required to help provide pain relief in sacroiliac joint problems. The ProCare 8" Universal Rib Belt is commonly used in hospitals and is recommended by physiotherapists and other health professionals.
